This course is designed to be a hands-on experience in the operation of a business through actual setting-up of a micro-business which will run for ten (10) months encompassing the following:

Pre-operating Phase: Setting up
Sourcing of funds
Business Documentation

Operating Phase : Produce and market

Final Phase: (ET-108B) Liquidation and Evaluation

PRE-REQUISITES:       At least 40% of major subjects and an approved

                                                Business plan.

OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the course, the students are expected to:

  1. Develop their administrative and interpersonal skills through actual exposure to customers, suppliers, distribution channels, hired personnel, as well as government and non-government entities;
  2. Learn to develop day-to-day managerial plans and be adept at analyzing and solving managerial problems entailed in running a business;
  3. Make sound decisions in the context of a highly competitive market structure;
  4. Be knowledgeable in interpreting the business’ financial condition and practice sound financial planning;
  5. Be able to generate a net income of at least P20,000;
 
VALUE AIMS:
 
  1. Gain confidence in the execution of business plans.
  2. To abide by the values of truth and justice in dealing with one’s customers, suppliers, distribution channels, and employees.
  3. To adhere to the value of integrity of creation by using environment-friendly materials and supplies.
  4. Imbibe the value of social responsibility in the conduct of their business by adopting environment-friendly business practices, and adhering to government laws and regulations.
METHODOLOGY

This course will enable students to gain a comprehensive ‘real world’ business experience and realize their potentials as entrepreneurs by actually embarking on their proposed business plans with the guidance of the professor and a team of mentors consisting of established women entrepreneurs from the Women’s Business Council Philippines (WBCP), Entrepreneurship Faculty and other Business Practitioners. Team teaching through the use of lectures, interactive discussions and one-on-one consultations will be employed.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Mandatory attendance in all scheduled class meetings;
  2. Student business groups should meet/consult with their assigned mentors at least 6 times during the semester, or as often as necessary;
  3. Finance and fully implement proposed business within the school year;
  4. Accomplish and pass all the required milestones.
  5. Presentation of Report on status of the business with proper documentation (in lieu of written final exam).

N.B.   Students are expected to generate a net income of at least     

            P20,000 at the end of the school year (ET-108 B).

 
EXPECTATIONS FROM STUDENT:

The student’s responsibility is to come to each class prepared. She is also expected to take all examinations on the dates schedule. She should read the assigned problems prior to class. She is expected to attend each class and participate actively in the discussions.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY

All Entrep students are expected to be academically honest. Cheating, lying and other forms of immoral and unethical behavior will not be tolerated. Any student found guilty of cheating in examinations or plagiarism in submitted course requirements will (at a minimum) receive an F or failure in the course. Plagiarism and cheating refer to the use of unauthorized books, notes or otherwise securing help in a test; copying tests, assignments, reports or term papers; representing the work of another person as one’s own; collaborating without authority, wit another student during an examination or in preparing academic work; signing another student’s name on an attendance sheet; or otherwise practicing scholastic dishonesty.
